Entertaiment is the newest collection of digital entertainment from the Merriam-Webster Corpora. These examples were programmatically compiled from various online sources to illustrate current usage of the word ‘entertainment’ and may not reflect the views of the editors or Merriam-Webster. This collection is a snapshot of the evolution of this concept as it crosses media and scales from individualized personal entertainment to a wide array of curated experiences for groups. The experience of being entertained has become strongly associated with amusement, so that one not unusual understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments also have a serious purpose, as in the various forms of ceremony, party, religious festival, or satire for example.
