Entertaiment

A pleasing or diverting occupation for the mind; a diversion; amusement: Solving the daily crossword is an entertaining diversion.

Entertainment has evolved to encompass many forms and media, from the individual choice of a film or music for private entertainment to public events such as a banquet adapted for two; to performances aimed at thousands, to satire or social backstabbing that is enjoyed by an audience of millions. Most entertainments have amusing elements, although a serious purpose may also be present in ceremonies, celebrations and religious festivals for example.
